How laundry pickup and delivery works, and how to prep your bag

By the Pacco Pacco Laundry team · Updated 18 September 2026 · 5 min read

The short answer

You arrange a pickup window, leave your bagged washing at your door or nominated spot, and it's collected, washed, dried and folded, then delivered back to your door, with 48 hours as the standard turnaround at Pacco Pacco. You don't need to be home for either leg. Five minutes of prep, one bag, empty pockets, stains and delicates flagged, makes the whole process smoother and protects your clothes.

The process, start to finish

If you've never used a pickup service, here's the whole shape of it, using our own flow as the example.

  • Get in touch: tell us your services and roughly how much washing you have, and we'll agree a collection window that suits. You'll have an all-in estimate before you commit
  • Bag it: any sturdy bag works for a first order. Leave it at your door, porch, or wherever you've told us to look
  • Collection: we pick up during your window. No need to be home
  • Processing: washing is sorted and washed to your preferences, dried, folded, and any extras (ironing, stain treatment, mending, dry cleaning) handled in the same run
  • Delivery: everything comes back to your door within the standard 48-hour turnaround, folded and ready to put away. We'll confirm your return timing when the booking is confirmed

How to prep your bag (five minutes, well spent)

Empty every pocket; tissues, receipts, pens and forgotten Lego are the classic casualties, and a pen can cost you a whole load. Then do a quick pass for anything that shouldn't travel: nothing wet or actively mouldy in a sealed bag, and set aside anything you'd be devastated to lose so you can flag it or keep it home.

Use one bag per booking where you can, closed properly. There's no need to sort colours or fold anything; sorting is our job. If you're sending multiple service types, keep dry-cleaning items separate from the wash-and-fold pile, a supermarket bag inside the main bag is fine, so nothing washable and nothing dry-clean-only ends up in the wrong stream.

Flag the special cases when you book

The booking notes are your friend. Point out stains and what caused them, since knowing coffee from cooking oil changes the treatment. Flag delicates, hand-wash items and anything prone to shrinking, note your temperature and detergent preferences (fragrance-free households, say so), and list repairs like loose buttons or dropped hems if you're adding mending.

For anything with a confirm-first price, like dry cleaning or a repair, you'll get the exact price after we've seen the item and before any work is done. No surprises is the whole idea.

Do I need to be home? What if it rains? The practical questions

You don't need to be home for pickup or delivery; most customers never see us. Choose a sheltered spot for the bag, a porch, behind a gate, under a carport, and tell us where in the booking. On delivery we'll leave your clean laundry in the same agreed spot, protected in its packaging.

Turnaround at Pacco Pacco is 48 hours as standard, so the realistic rhythm is: bag out on day one, clean washing back on day three. If a date matters, an event, a changeover, a Sunday-night uniform deadline, mention it when booking and we'll tell you honestly whether it works. We'll confirm any pickup and delivery cost with you up front.

Quick questions

What kind of bag should I use for laundry pickup?

For a first order, any sturdy closable bag: a garbage bag, tote or laundry bag all work. Regular customers typically settle into a dedicated laundry bag that cycles back and forth with each order.

Do I need to sort or count my washing before pickup?

No sorting or counting needed for wash and fold; it's priced by weight and we sort on our end. Just separate dry-cleaning or ironing-only items and note per-item services in the booking.

What if I miss the pickup window or forget to put the bag out?

It happens. Let us know as soon as you realise and we'll rebook the collection for the next window that suits; the 48-hour clock simply starts from the new pickup.

How do I pay, and is the delivery fee extra?

Our price list is being finalised. Get in touch and we'll give you a full estimate, including any pickup and delivery cost, before you commit.
